Default Farming Forum Purpose?

I'm not being sarcastic but what exactly is this forum for? I have read the sticky that is being put into every closed thread and even it seems to contridict itself as for what this forum is for.

The sticky says that the purpose of "the farming section is a discussion area for all things farming including: builds, areas, strategy, etc"

But then it says that you can't discuss things like "where are good farming spots". Does this mean that you CAN say "Hey I found a great spot over at so and so..." BUT that you CAN'T ask "Hey anyone found any new great farming spots?"

Can you also say "This is a great build for so and so" BUT NOT say "What is a great build for so and so"

The sticky also says not to ask about bosses or drops since you can use guildwiki to answer questions like this. Well using that logic you probably could find out 99% of all your farming questions if you knew what to look for on guildwiki.

I think part of the reason you see alot of people asking these types of questions is that most of the builds and areas discussed in the stickys are pretty old information and people get the idea that old means that it doesn't work anymore (even though thats not the case alot of the time).

I'm not trying to be a smarta** or trying to be difficult, I am just wondering what you can discuss in this forum so more people don't have their threads closed. Maybe we need a sticky that lists what we CAN discuss instead of what we CAN'T discuss.

Well I've read the closed threads and i don't think it's a horrible thing you get your thread closed because for alot of them it's a simple question where a few people answer and then the admin closes it because why do you need to discuss it further when people answered your question.

What you're allowed to discuss here is farming builds you've seen or found that work and people find new ones everyday and discuss them with the community. IMO when people ask the question, "Where's a good farming spot?" they're naive because they don't look through the pages of farming builds. There are tons of threads with working farming builds but alot of people that ask those questions are just too lazy to look through and want the easy way out and ask so people can answer them so they do no work.

As far as people not saying "Hey anyone found any new great farming spots?" that's a very naive question. If they look on the first couple pages of this forum they will find plenty of farming areas that come through everyday. I mean I've read through this forums from the first page to last and I've found multiple working farms that I never knew. So if people would read the forums then this wouldn't happen. And when people post a farming spot, that's a new farming spot most of the time so that can answer that question too.

To answer most of the questions people ask they have to READ. Because people will post good builds for a nice farm, but when people ask what is this build good for then they obviously didn't read the thread about the farm using it. For example, if someone said a 55 monk is great for Bergen Undead Farming, and someone asked What is a good build for Bergen Undead Farming? they OBVIOUSLY missed the thread where that question was answered by using a 55 monk.

my $.02

WHY BUMP A THREAD 21 MINS OLD!!?
but yeah your point is right, plus search isn't that useful at all

a search for 55 necro guide would maybe give you some guy ranting about how a 55 necro joined his RA team and he was using skills not in his official guild wars
guide

I see what you are saying (OP) but the threads that are being closed are people asking for builds/guides that can be found by using the search function.

If you think about it, someone asking "what are some good farming spots" is someone who is just too lazy to and pull up some threads. To answer the "what are soom good farming spots" question you just need to look at the first page.

People (well almost everyone who posts farming threads in here) will not post farming threads about builds that are useless and arn't good. Why would people do that? I mean it would be a waste of time. So when people post threads in here about farming builds you will be getting "good" farming builds. so just pull up anything you see that interests you.

Also, look at the word good. Good to me can be different from what other people see as good. All in all, we (and I speak for more than just myself but many other forumers as well) just want to see people take more initiative instead of being lazy and making other people answer a question for you when you could find out for yourself especially when it is as easy as "what are good spots for farming".

We just don't like people constantly asking for farming areas, and then having to moderate all of those posts, and then closing them if things spiral out of control.

Its much easier to do it the way we do....the Search Function may not work the best, but if people say they are trying to find a build most of the time we leave it open.

Its all about using your resources you have around.

We close threads that are like this " I needz a w/mo build for farming give give".

We don't close threads that are like this "Looking for Elementalist UW solo build, (checked search function).

Its all about how people present themselves on the forums.
